CO RAE Enrollment is Up 6.3%, Mar-20 Data
Enrollment in Colorado’s six Regional Accountable Entities was up 6.3% to 1.13 million in March 2020 compared to year-end 2019. Denver Health Medicaid Choice entered the market in January 2020 in which members previously were attributed to Colorado Access. Denver Health Medicaid Choice covers about 80,000 members who live in Adams, Arapahoe, Denver, or Jefferson counties.

IN Medicaid Managed Care Enrollment Is Up 3.7%, Mar-20 Data
Indiana’s total Medicaid managed care enrollment increased by 3.7% to 1.2 million in March 2020 compared to year-end 2019, after increasing 0.1% in 2019, decreasing 4.6% in 2018 and increasing 3.8% in 2017.
The program saw a gain of 37.3% in 2015 stemming from the Healthy Indiana Plan program, the state’s Medicaid expansion program, which added more than 300,000 members. Effective April 1, 2017, Indiana-based not-for-profit health plan MDwise, Inc., exited Hoosier Care Connect, the state’s Medicaid managed care program for individuals who are in the aged, blind, and disabled (ABD) category of eligibility. Medicaid managed care contracts for Hoosier Healthwise and the Healthy Indiana Plan were awarded in 2016 and began in January 2017, with CareSource being the new entrant.
CMS Announces Commission to Assess Nursing Home Response to COVID-19
The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) announced on April 30, 2020, an independent commission to assess the nursing home response to COVID-19. The commission, which is expected to convene in late May, will consist of industry experts, family members, providers, clinicians, advocates, state and local authorities, and others. Read More
State Medicaid Directors Criticize HHS for Tilting Emergency Funding Distributions Away from Medicaid
The Los Angeles Times reported on April 30, 2020, that state Medicaid directors warned Health and Human Services (HHS) Secretary Alex Azar that the federal response to COVID-19 has drastically weakened Medicaid programs across the country by tilting payments to providers that serve commercial and Medicare patients. HHS based emergency assistance initially on past Medicare billings and then on a provider’s total revenues. Read More
