In December 2010, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) announced the State Demonstrations to Integrate Care for Dual Eligible Individuals, a competitive solici-tation for proposals to design person-centered models that coordinate primary, acute, behavioral and long-term supports and services for Medicare-Medicaid enrollees. In re-viewing the initial state proposals for dual integration projects, CMS has confirmed that a key factor in the implementation of care integration and care coordination models for dual eligible individuals will be the ability to test and apply new payment and financing models.
